Read chapters 1-3. While you read, pick out a word you don’t know or that you are less familiar with than other words. Look up the definition. The first book we are reading this year is Brain on Fire, by Susannah Cahallan. This blog will serve as our class digital notebook. It will be a record of our thoughts and our learning as we read the book together.

Your first job is to choose one of these two questions and write a response below. Make sure to specify which question you are answering.

1. What do you think it would be like to “lose your mind”? What would your family do? What would you do?
2. What do we mean when we say, “lost your mind?” What assumptions are made about people who have lost their mind?
